নয়াগ্রামের নিগুই এলাকায় দাঁতাল হাতির তাণ্ডব প্রাণে বাঁচল একটি গাড়ির চালক ও খালাসী
স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, ঝাড়গ্রাম: প্রকাশ্য দিবালোকে একটি দাঁতাল হাতি তাণ্ডব চালালো ঝাড়গ্রাম (JHARGRAM) জেলার নয়াগ্রাম (NAYAGRAM) ব্লকের ৯ নম্বর রাজ্য সড়কের নিগুই (NIGUI) এলাকায়। যার ফলে বেশ কিছুক্ষণ যানবাহন চলাচল ওই রাস্তায় বন্ধ থাকে। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের চেষ্টায় হাতিটি জঙ্গলের দিকে যায়। হাতি জঙ্গলের যাওয়ার পর ওই রাস্তা দিয়ে যানবাহন চলাচল শুরু করে। সোমবার সকালে একটি ধান বোঝাই ডাম্পার গাড়ি নয়াগ্রাম(NAYAGRAM) এর দিকে যাওয়ার সময় নয়াগ্রাম (NAYAGRAM) থানার নিগুই এলাকায় ৯ নম্বর রাজ্য সড়কে ওই গাড়ির সামনে চলে আসে একটি দাঁতাল হাতি।

কোনোক্রমে রাস্তার উপর গাড়ি ফেলে দিয়ে ওই গাড়ির চালক ও খালাসী প্রাণ ভয়ে ছুটে পালায়। যার ফলে তারা হাতির হামলার হাত থেকে রক্ষা পায় এবং প্রাণে বেঁচে যায়। এরপরে একটি ছোট গাড়ি ও সামনে চলে আসে। সেই গাড়ির চালক ও গাড়ি ফেলে পালিয়ে যায়। প্রায় দু’ঘণ্টা ধরে তাণ্ডব চালায় দাঁতাল হাতিটি। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা ফোন করে বিষয়টি জানায় স্থানীয় বন দপ্তরের আধিকারিক কে। খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে আসে বন দফতরের কর্মীরা।

তারা স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের সহযোগিতায় প্রায় দুই ঘণ্টার চেষ্টায় হাতিটিকে (ELEPHANT) রাস্তার উপর থেকে জঙ্গলের দিকে পাঠায়। তারপর ওই রাস্তা দিয়ে যানবাহন চলাচল শুরু করে। যেভাবে প্রকাশ্য দিনের বেলা রাস্তার উপর দাঁড়িয়ে হাতি তাণ্ডব শুরু করেছে তাতে ওই এলাকার বাসিন্দারা হাতির (ELEPHANT) হামলার আশঙ্কায় আতংকের মধ্যে রয়েছেন। তারা বন দফতর কে ওই এলাকায় নজরদারি করার জন্য আবেদন জানিয়েছেন। বন দফতরের পক্ষ থেকে ওই এলাকার বাসিন্দাদের সতর্ক থাকার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

On Monday morning, a dumper truck carrying paddy was heading towards Nayagram (NAYAGRAM) when a toothed elephant came in front of the vehicle on State Road No. 9 in Nigui area of Nayagram (NAYAGRAM) police station. Somehow, the driver and the occupants of the car fled leaving their lives on the road. As a result, they survived the elephant attack and survived. Then a small car came to the front. The driver of the car fled the scene. The tusked elephant raged for about two hours. Local residents called and informed the local forest department official K. Upon receiving the news, the staff of the forest department came to the spot. They sent the elephant (ELEPHANT) from the road to the forest in an effort of about two hours with the help of local residents. Then the traffic started moving on that road. Residents of the area are terrified of being attacked by elephants as the elephants have started harassing them on the streets during public days. They have appealed to the forest department to monitor the area. The forest department has instructed the residents of the area to be vigilant.
